Draft idea of what happen at the F1-Pit

The duration of the training lasted till midnight. Our instructor was Mr Jin Wen and Mr Melvin. There were few schools such as Nanyang Polytenic. We were taking part in the Hip Hop segment. We were given two shirts, one is blue in colour while another is in pink in colour. We wore the pink shirt for the actual performance. :) The make up was a silver shade for the top part of the eye and a blue shade for the lower part. All the Secondary 1's  had to perform.

My thoughts on it :

- It was truly amazing having the chance to perform and to represent Singapore for the Chingay festival 2011. I would love to participate in the next Chingay festival. This event made me realised and discover my talent as well as my confidence. At first my family thought that this event will affect my studies but i convinced them that it won't. For the school this event was very important. I had some difficulties in managing my time such as having a good night sleep but i manage to have a good night sleep by settling school stuffs the day before.  On that day, i decided to concentrate and do the dance steps correctly. It was a good decision. If i still had the chance next time, I would go ALL OUT ! :D

Historical Background on Chingay :D

What were the origins of the first Chingay parade?
- Originally, Chingay was about celebrating the birthdays of the Chinese deities or the procession of the Goddess         of mercy. After world war 2, it spread to Johore. After so, there was some changes made, for example trucks were used to carry the floats. On 4th Feb 1973, the first Singapore Chingay was held but firecrackers were banned due to some casualties and fire hazards. It was celebrated because it was associated with Chinese New Year :)

How has Singapore's Chingay parade changed over the years?
- On 1973 it was only the Chinese who performed but in 1977 the Malay and Indian groups started to join in , which made it more colourful and cheerful. It started to grow as  years came by. There were changes such as the  costumes, the venues and the theme. This helps to attract more tourist and Singaporeans to watch and learn about Chingay's culture.

Why do you think it is important for the different races to participate in the Chingay parade?
- This is to mix up the different races so that there would not be any misuderstanding. As you know that Singapore is a multi racial country so  if we mixed with each other, we show good example to the tourist who comes here. :D

My Chingay Reflection :D

I've learnt to be more confident , interacted more with others and  I learn on how to improve on the dance steps. Just learning on how to do the dance steps does not make you a professional dancer. You have to go through lots of trainings and performances. This helps you to build your confidence and to improve your dance steps.
